Vanilla Gin Tonic Feat

Vanilla Gin and Tonic

A take on the classic Gin and Tonic with a twist of french vanilla. What more could one ask for? This Vanilla Gin and Tonic is a flowery gin and tonic. With the nuance of sweet vanilla and lime, it makes a refreshing and unique cocktail. It isn’t too sweet if you don’t want it to be. It’s fragrant and interesting to taste along with being surprisingly mild as well as strong at the same time.
I challenged myself to take the basic French Gin and Tonic and make it my own.

Success! The gentle concoction of lime, gin, vanilla beans and tonic water was better than I expected. The greatest drink ever introduced to mankind is really just 5 steps and almost 5 ingredients away. This cocktail is almost kind of Parisian. The soothing vanilla extracts add a great fragrance and taste to a classic Gin and Tonic. With the citrusy flavours of lime, its surprising to see how well these flavours blend together so unexpectedly. This Vanilla Gin and Tonic cocktail is relatively rare, and when I asked about it at a popular local bar I got started at. But trust me, the smooth blend of flavours this drink has is unlike any regular cocktail.

For this drink, we used vanilla beans and let it sit gently in the gin for flavour. This cocktail is relatively easy to prepare and takes no time and fewer ingredients. It can be easily made with ingredients already in your home! If you don’t have vanilla beans, vanilla essence/extract can also be used and it tastes just the same if not better. So grab the ingredients listed below and start preparing this unique and lovely Vanilla Gin and Tonic!

Ingredients

  • 60 ml Gin
  • 1/2 inch piece of vanilla bean/ 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1 tablespoon lime
  • Ice
  • 120 ml Tonic water
  • 1 slice of lime
  • 1 vanilla bean

Directions

Add the vanilla bean to the gin and let sit for at least 15 minutes before mixing your drink. The longer it blends the deeper the vanilla flavour will be. Add the gin, the vanilla bean, and the lime juice to a chilled glass. Add fresh ice and pour the tonic water over the gin mixture. Cheers!
