Forget a vodka soda. Forget boring old tequila shots. This Spiced Rum and Tequila Sunrise cocktail is just heavenly. Tastes so good you wouldn’t want to drink anything else! The delicate, tropical and soothing flavours of Mango and Orange are anyway great as they are. But when blended with Spiced Rum, it’s a different taste altogether. Not only is this drink so fun, colourful and tropical but also it is so practical to make, as the spiced rum can be used in many other drinks.
The Spiced Rum and Tequila Sunrise is a very popular drink, but our twist on the Spiced Rum is unlike any other. It’s one thing to buy it at the store, and another to make a delicious one yourself. So try our take on this Spiced Rum and Tequila Sunrise cocktail as well as it’s best friend, Spiced Rum. To welcome the Mango season, this drink is just a perfect idea. Mango Puree can be prepared at home in an easy way, and can also be had as is!
Ingredients
For the Spiced Rum –
- A (750-mL) bottle of Rum
- Single Vanilla bean
- 1 (3-inch) slice Orange peel, white pith removed
- 1 Cinnamon stick
- 2 Allspice berries
- 4 Cloves
- 6 Black peppercorns
- pinch Ground nutmeg
- 1 slice Fresh ginger, about the size of a quarter
For the Cocktail Drink –
- 90 ml orange juice
- 45 ml Tequila
- 30 mango puree/aamras
- 15 ml Spiced Rum
- 15 ml grenadine
- 1 orange slice for garnish
- 1 cherry for garnish
Directions
For the Spiced Rum –
Add all the ingredients to a wide-mouthed, airtight container and seal. Let stand for two days and taste. If you want a bit more flavor, leave it be for a third day. Strain the spices out and rebottle the liquid.
For the Cocktail Drink –
Add grenadine to a glass jar. Tumble together orange juice, Tequila, Spiced Rum andmango puree with ice. Garnish with a speared orange slice and cherry. Serve chilled and enjoy!
