DIY MASKS – Fancy, Fun and Personalised!

It’s no surprise that medical shops are stocking out because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This means essentials too, like masks. All over Instagram, Twitter and Facebook – people have been making their own masks and braving this whole situation, carefree! To make your own DIY masks are fairly easy, but more than anything they look Oh So Fabulous.

These fancy masks not only protect you from the virus, but match your outfit for your daily grocery runs. How, you ask? and what do you need? It’s simple. A few items that can be found at any home, with ease!

This tutorial is not intended to replace a medical grade N95 mask. Although, if you need a little protection around the house or don’t have access to better masks, this DIY mask is better than no mask! It is not important if you do not have any DIY or craft experience. All you need, is to know how to fold a napkin! If you can do that, you have the skills required for this tutorial!

Items you’ll need –
  1. A hankerchief
  2. Rubber Hair Ties (2)

And that’s it! These handkerchief/bandana non-surgical face masks will come in handy every day while running your daily chores. Not only do they look good, but have layers or protection as well. Remember to wash your masks each time you come from outside. These easy masks are surely eye catchers. They’re so different! Attention grabbing in a subtle way, but also literally life saving.

In these coming weeks, it has become even more important to wear a mask. Why? To protect yourself – as well as the others around you from this deadly virus.

Step 1 –

Make two folds on the handkerchief until you get a rectangle shape

Step 2 –

with 2 more folds, make the rectangle smaller and the fabric thicker.

Step 3 –

Add 1 elastic rubber band on each side of the handkerchief.

Step 4 –

Tuck the fabric over the rubber band and pack it in with the other fabric.

Remember to keep the elastic out to tuck behind your ears and use as a real mask! Here is a video demonstration –
