Watermelon Honeydew Sangria

Spring is finally nearing here in Bombay and we have warm weather cocktails on our minds! So, we whipped up a delicious Watermelon and Honeydew Sangria recipe to get you all excited for outdoor entertaining and partying. First, we made a fresh watermelon and honeydew puree that makes this drink what it is and gives it taste like no other. Then, added in cucumbers, kiwis, limes, lemons and strawberries to create an extra fruity flavour. This noon-time drink (or actually, any time) will be the best thing that ever happened to who’s ever tried it.

This sangria is a great “large batch” cocktail to make for parties. It gets an extra bonus in everyone’s sights because the flavours blend together more after it sits in the fridge for a while and the fruits soak up the juices. It takes a little pressure off, knowing it will still taste delicious throughout any soirée. For this watermelon and honeydew sangria recipe, we used gin, white wine and orange liquor. It would also be great with vodka too! It’s really your preference. So without further adieu, whip up some Watermelon and Honeydew Sangria and serve it to your dearest pals.

Ingredients

  • watermelon, cubed
  • honeydew
  • 5 strawberries sliced
  • 1 lemon sliced
  • 2 limes/mosambi sliced
  • 1/2 cucumber sliced
  • dry white wine
  • 2 shots gin or vodka
  • orange liqueur 1-2
  • 150 ml ginger ale
  • A few mint leaves

Directions

Chop and slice all of the fruit and set aside. In a blender, combine the watermelon cubes and honeydew and blend with the gin until it becomes a liquid. Place the other watermelon cubes and honeydew cubes in the freezer to make fruit cubes to add to the sangria later.

Add in the wine, orange liqueur and the rest of the sliced fruit. Stir and then add in the ginger ale. Before serving place the frozen watermelon and honeydew cubes in the sangria as well as some ice to water it down a bit.

Serve with fresh mint and enjoy!
